Our Local Food Critic

Clare B. has lived in the SF Bay Area for most of her life. Although she started cooking her favorite meals during the Pandemic, she would rather go out and have a nice meal at a local restaurant. She manages to eat her way through the Palo Alto, CA food scene, finding the most essential eats- from date night venues, weekend brunch spots and every joint to meet your food craving.

Restaurant Cuisines

Palo Alto has a variety of food cuisines to choose from. Some of the restaurants I've recently tried include Greek, Indian, American, French, Burmese & Vietnamese, in no specific order. I've been to over 40 Palo Alto restaurants for in room dining, and a maybe 20 more that I've had take out only from. That said, I have many more restaurants to experience and many to revisit in the Palo Alto, CA area.

Essential, Really?

Essential Restaurants to me are places that have one or many reasons for you to go. That may mean superlative food, a creative drink menu, beautiful ambiance or even an energy or vibe that makes the restaurant special. It can be any cuisine and even any price point. But what it will be is a place that provides a memorable experience alongside food. 

Downtown Palo Alto vs. California Avenue

There is great food and great experiences to be had in Downtown Palo Alto, on California Avenue, on El Camino and all over the City of Palo Alto. More recently I've been to Downtown restaurants since I work in that area. But as I review more restaurants, location will not be a driver on where I venture to next.
